In less than fifteen days, Congress will decide whether or not to use its power to bring our troops home from Iraq. Representatives Lynn Woolsey and Barbara Lee have introduced an amendment that would strengthen that plan, bringing combat troops home by December 2007, and funding only diplomatic and reconstruction efforts in the region. We are now seeing the results of our work together, the first hope in four years for the day our exhausted and under-equipped troops can come home.

Peace Action West is already working to influence the nation's most important swing voters in Congress. With your help we will intensify our campaign next week by sending a mobile team to Salt Lake City, Utah, home of critical swing representative, Jim Matheson. Our organizers will be hitting the pavement, making sure Matheson hears from voters who support a withdrawal, and urging him to support this important, inaugural step toward ending the war.
