US Nuclear Weapons: Experts Agree: No Need for New Nukes Print E-mail

More and more nuclear weapons experts agree—pursuit of a new nuke by the U.S. is not only unnecessary, but also extremely dangerous. Just last week former Senator Sam Nunn, a well-respected leader on nuclear issues, testified before Congress about the proposed new nuclear weapon - the Reliable Replacement Warhead (RRW). He said:

“On the RRW itself, if Congress gives a green light to this program in our current world environment, I believe that this will be: Misunderstood by our allies; exploited by our adversaries; complicate our work to prevent the spread and use of nuclear weapons, including the essential steps I have outlined this morning; and make resolution of the Iran and North Korea challenges all the more difficult.”

Many nuclear weapons experts have expressed grave doubts about the Reliable Replacement Warhead program, a plan to develop new nuclear weapons.
